from (southern) England

Take the M6 which becomes the M74 after Carlisle
Leave the M74 at junction 4, to join the M73 motorway (signposted M73 Stirling, Kincardine Bridge, Glasgow)
The M73 merges onto Cumbernauld Road - A80, then M80
At M80 junction 5 keep in right-hand lane then continue forward on the M80 (signposted Perth, Stirling)
The M80 joins the M9 at junction 9 (Sterling services)
At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A9 (signposted Perth). Then click here

from Newcastle

From the ferry port follow the signs to A1 (North) towards Morpeth. At Morpeth take the A697 towards Coldstream
Follow the A697 through Coldstream until you reach the A68. Turn Right towards Edinburgh
Follow the A68 until it ends at the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720). Turn left
Follow the A720 and then the signs towards the Forth Road Bridge. Cross the Forth Road Bridge and onto the M90 towards Perth.
From J10 on the M90 there are two options - the longer (by about 40 miles) but easier to follow A9 route or the shorter and,
unless you suffer from motion sickness, more fun route via Braemar.
To follow the A9 route, at J10 stay on the M90 until you reach the Broxden roundabout.
Here take 2nd exit onto the A9 (signposted Inverness, Crianlarich). Then click here

from Perth

From the Broxden roundabout by Perth there are two options - the longer (by about 40 miles) but easier to follow A9 route or the shorter and, unless you suffer from motion sickness, more fun route via Braemar.

To follow the A9 route:
At Broxden roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A9 (signposted Inverness, Crianlarich).

After about 80 miles, past Aviemore turn right then left onto the A95 (signposted Elgin).
Follow the A95 for about 25 miles past Grantown on Spey and Cromdale until you reach a U-bend and the junction with the B9008 (signposted Tomintoul).
Turn right onto the B9008 and follow this road for about 5 miles. After passing through Bridgend of Glenlivet you will find the village hall to your left, a bridge and another mile further a signpost for the junction of the B9008 to Tomintoul and the B9009 to Dufftown. Bank House is the first house to your left after this sign.

To follow the Braemar route:
At the Broxden roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the M90 (signposted Dundee and Edinburgh) At junction 10 bear left onto M90 Dundee, Aberdeen, across the Tay bridge, at junction 11 join the A85 towards Perth and Scone – Note – this is a bit of a complicated junction. Through Perth keep the right lane as the left lane tends to be for traffic turning left into Perth city centre. Where the road splits into A93 and A94 take the A93 (left) towards Braemar / Blairgowrie. Remain on the A93 through Blairgowrie, Glenshee and Braemar. About 9 miles from Braemar, turn left onto the B976 (signposted Tomintoul). Five miles on this road you will see Gairnshiel Lodge on your left with an old bridge. Turn left onto the A939 across the bridge towards Tomintoul. After another 5 miles turn left at the junction (signposted Tomintoul). Passing Corgarff Castle and about 8 miles past the Lecht ski centre you reach a T junction with a Glenlivet Estate information point. Turn right onto the B9008 (signposted Dufftown) and after about 8 miles you will reach the junction with the B9009 (Dufftown) where Bank House lies right ahead of you at the junction.

At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Argyll Road (signposted Exit, Way Out, Aberdeen)
At the traffic signals turn left onto Dyce Drive (signposted Aberdeen, Inverness A96)
At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A96 (signposted Inverness)
After about 35 miles, at Huntly, opposite Tesco turn left onto the A920 towards Dufftown
In Dufftown, at the end of the road turn left onto Braehead Terrace (signposted Tomintoul)
Leave Dufftown and follow the B9009 for about 11 miles. Bank house is to your right on the junction with the B9008

At the first roundabout take 2nd exit (signposted Aberdeen, Inverness A96)
At the second roundabout take 2nd exit (signposted Aberdeen, Inverness A96)
At the next roundabout take 1st exit onto A96 (signposted Aberdeen) Remain on the A96 for about 8 miles
In Nairn, after crossing the river Nairn turn right onto A939 towards Grantown on Spey
In Grantown at the traffic lights follow the A939 to the left
At Speybridge Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A95
Follow the A95 for through Cromdale until you reach a U-bend and the junction with the B9008 (signposted Tomintoul).
Turn right onto the B9008 and follow this road for about 5 miles.
After passing through Bridgend of Glenlivet you will find the village hall to your left, a bridge and another mile further a signpost for the junction of the B9008 to Tomintoul and the B9009 to Dufftown. Bank House is the first house to your left after this sign.
